In an attempt to bridge time, space and culture, Israeli rock musician Dudu Tassa takes on the original music of his grandfather and great uncle, who were among the leading musicians in 1930’s-1940’s Iraq. Salah and Daud Al-kuweiti were Jewish-Iraqi musicians considered to be the creators of modern Iraqi music, and two of the greatest Arab musicians in history. In the 1950’s, they immigrated to Israel – where no one took their music seriously. Dudu’s grandfather and uncle were not accepted as legitimate musicians by the young Israeli establishment and as a result they forbade their family to engage in music. An eye-opener for anyone interested in music, as well as those wishing to deepen their understanding of Israeli society.
