MEET THE FILMMAKER!
Join us on Sunday May 4th as VCAM and RETN present a special Vermont screening of NERDCORE RISING, a documentary about “the world’s 579th greatest rapper,” MC Frontalot. NERDCORE RISING premiered last month at the SXSW film festival and since then has played at just a few other venues. This benefit for the Vermont International Film Festival will be among the first public screenings of the film. Negin Farsad, the film’s director, will be on hand to present the film.
“Nerdcore” is the newest, dorkiest wave of hip-hop, born out of the internet, and made possible by computer-obsessed geeks. NERDCORE RISING follows MC Frontalot, the godfather of nerdcore, on his first national tour. Along the way, Frontalot fanatics and music industry notables tell the story of this funny, fascinating, and unapologetically uncool cultural phenomenon.

And introducing, The Vermont International Film Forum!
The Vermont International Film Forum is a new film series that runs throughout the year. The Forum focuses on contemporary cinema from global film cultures and from Vermont filmmakers, including students, and invites community organizations to participate in selecting and sponsoring films, hosting guest artists, and facilitating discussions and workshops. The Forum also hosts the Vermont International Film Festival, which will present its 19th event in October 2008.
This special event is an unofficial “soft launch” of the Film Forum. Look for more events as the year progresses.
